November 4, 2009 at 9:35 am (Stage, movies) (, , , , , , , , )

Gerard Butler (Law Abiding Citizen, Gamer) will star in “Coriolanus”, directed by Ralph Fiennes. The film is billed as a new version of Shakespeare’s Rome-set political and family drama.

Butler will be playing Aufidius, a Volscian commander. The cast already includes William Hurt and Eddie Marsan. What do you think?

Box Office Preview

September 8, 2009 at 10:04 pm (Stage, movies) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

This week sees one of the more interesting releases of the year. “9″ directed by Shane Acker and produced by Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov. Its main competition will by Tyler Perry’s “I Can Do Bad All By Myself” and “Whiteout”. Who will come out on top?

9-movie-posterI realize its being released in under 2000 theaters, but I’m calling for the upset. “9″ will take the top spot because of the hype and its cast which includes Elijah Wood. I think an opening of $14-17 million is in order.

I know this is wishful thinking, but I’m hoping Tyler Perry’s latest film bombs. Hopefully Perry’s last film, “The Family that Preys” shows that America is growing tired of his films and an opening of $13-16 million.

“Whiteout” starring Kate Beckinsale will lose a lot of its potential audience to “9″. Look for $7-10 million. After that it will be a toss up between the horror remake “Sorority’s Row” and “The Final Destination” with each taking about $5-8 million.

Wolverine and James Bond Together…On Broadway

May 27, 2009 at 3:53 pm (Broadway, Stage, movies) (, , , , , , )

Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig are, without a doubt, two of the brightest stars in Hollywood today.  Both have starred in major blockbuster franchises, and have appealed to people of both genders, and people of all ages.

Now, both are set to star in the Broadway play “A Steady Rain”.  The play was a hit in Chicago, and tells the story of two policemen who have been friends since childhood.  Their lives take very different paths, however, after one particular incident.

The play would be Craig’s Broadway debut.  Jackman proved to be a hit on Broadway after he played Peter Allen in “The Boy From Oz”.
